David Kempton Member for Cook is pleased to share that the latest round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF) is now open.
Applications are now being accepted for the first round of 2026, with grants of up to $35,000 available to support a wide range of community organisations.
David Kempton Member for Cook is encouraging all eligible local organisations, sporting clubs, cultural groups, and not-for-profits to take advantage of this funding opportunity.
“These grants have a proven track record of making a tangible difference in the lives of local
residents,” Mr Kempton said.
“In the final funding round of last year, 16 community groups across the Cook electorate were successful in securing more than $1 million in total funding. Several organisations received the maximum grant of $100,000, which enabled them to undertake significant projects that otherwise may not have been possible,” Mr Kempton said.
“This is fantastic support that makes a difference in our communities—helping to build better facilities, create new opportunities, and support people of all ages and backgrounds.
“I encourage all not-for-profit community groups and organisations to apply for funding—whether it’s for new projects, equipment purchases, facility upgrades, or events. These grants are designed to strengthen and support the invaluable work that local organisations do every day.”
The GCBF is Queensland’s largest one-off community grants program, established to help not-for-profit groups deliver a diverse range of projects and services. Over the years, the fund has played an instrumental role in strengthening communities by supporting projects such as:
• Renovating community facilities
• Running local events and training sessions
• Installing solar systems and shade sails
• Upgrading equipment and vehicles
Eligible groups are encouraged to submit their proposals for projects that will have a positive and lasting impact in their local area.
Applications are now open and will close at midnight on 28 February 2026. Successful applicants will be announced in July.
