- It’s 32km in length, traversing the Great Dividing Range between Lake Mitchell and Wangetti.
- It was approved by the State Government and built to Government specifications in the late 80’s.
- Quaid’s Road suffered only minimal damage during Cyclone Jasper when all major roads between the Coast and the Tablelands were closed for weeks.
- It could provide a viable alternative when the Kuranda Range is closed, taking ½ hour off the trip to Cairns via Gillies or Rex.
- Quaid’s Road offers a unique experience with 5 separate ecosystems and incredible water vistas.
- Quaid’s Road offers an alternate evacuation route from the Coast in times of natural disasters.
