In April, I was in the Torres Strait, spending the night on Thursday Island, then travelling to Mer Island to open the recently completed Merium Lukup Meta Health Centre and accommodation.

This facility was a great community collaboration, incorporating traditional colours and bringing much-improved health services to the island.

The accommodation was named after Etta Ama Passi in memory of her years of dedication as a nurse and the first woman appointed to the Council.

It was a wonderful day of prayer, celebration, singing, dancing, and food—many thanks to all those involved.
